The Cluj Branch of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Department of Hungarian Literature at Babeș-Bolyai University, and the Doctoral School of Hungarian Studies are organizing a commemorative conference in honor of János Apáczai Csere, titled: "Apáczai 401. The Creation of Hungarian Scientific Language: Attempts and Achievements (from János Apáczai Csere – through the Hungarian Learned Society – to the professionalization of the 19th century)." A unique feature of the event is that the presentations dedicated to Apáczai are supplemented by a professional seminar day exploring the legacy of Apáczai’s intellectual heritage and the history of the professionalization and institutionalization of Hungarian literature in the 18th and 19th centuries.
